World Sparrow Day
“I Love Sparrows”.
We’ve shared our environment with these birds for thousands of years, and it’s important to protect them.
On March 20th, 2024, Don Bosco Anbu Illam observed World Sparrow Day in all the CRCs (Community Resource Centers) in Salem and Namakkal. The day is aimed at raising awareness about the decreasing sparrow population and the need for their conservation. It encourages action to safeguard and conserve sparrows, as well as spreading awareness among children about the significance of their presence for our ecosystem and biodiversity. Children not only participated in creating awareness, but they also took action by putting up bird feeders and filling them with seeds and building a nesting box in their village to provide a safe place for sparrows to raise their young.
