On August 23, 2024, a Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan volunteers meeting was held at DBAI Mulluvaadi Gate to spotlight the vital importance of child protection in our communities. This collaborative initiative, organized alongside the District Child Protection Unit, the Child Welfare Committee and the District Youth Officer, NYKS aimed to equip our volunteers with the knowledge to become strong advocates for vulnerable children.

The day began on a heartfelt note with a song dedicated to street children, followed by inspiring addresses from various leaders. Project Coordinator Ms. Lincy Florencia welcomed all participants, and Rev. Dr. Casimir Raj.M emphasized the role of volunteers as ambassadors for child protection.

We learned about the role of NYKS & urgent issues facing children in slum areas from Mr. Trevin Charleston, the District Youth Welfare Officer. At the same time, Mr. Raj Kumar, the Legal Probation Officer, shared insights on supporting children needing care & protection and at-risk children in conflict with the law.
