Children’s Parliamentary Training Camp
A Children’s Parliamentary Training Camp was held on 20/08/2023 at Don Bosco Anbu Illam, Salem Mulluvadi Gate, under the leadership of the Child Friendly Salem. Rev. Dr.Casmir Raj. M presided over and inaugurated the programme, who is the Director of Don Bosco Anbu Illam, Mulluvadigate Salem. In this Programme 120 children from slum areas in Salem district also children and staffs from Don Bosco Anbu Illam participated. Then former Prime Minister of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry State Children and Youth Parliament Mr. S. Paul Thomas gave a special speech on Children’s Parliament and trained the children. Don Bosco Anbu Illam has been implementing various social welfare programs to develop good habits and social responsibilities in children from an early age. As a part of it, Children’s Parliament training was organized for children in the neighbourhood. The training specifically focused on inculcating good character, rights, personality development, leadership, and social responsibility for children. Similarly, the student parliaments operating in schools, elections were held and leaders selected for several departments including the Prime Minister, education, health, and environment for children at regional and urban levels.
Regarding the children’s parliament organization, the trainer of this organization said that the United Nations has praised this organization in the year 2008 as the best organization that creates a sense of social responsibility, the need for child rights protection and better personality development among children and has encouraged this organization by awarding it globally. He said that the Neya Parliament system has been started in various states in India and in various countries in the world and is functioning well. Children participated in this exercise very enthusiastically. Through this exercise, children learned about humanity, social welfare and needs. At the end of the program, everyone took a pledge to nurture the love of children in Salem and the program ended happily.
