School Enrollment Campaign – June 2025
In Observance of International Child Labour Day
To mark *International Child Labour Day, **Don Bosco Anbu Illam, in collaboration with the **Education Department – Salem, **Labour Department, **Salem Corporation (Ammapet and Suramangalam), and **Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board (TNUHDB), organized a *School Enrollment Campaign across vulnerable communities in Salem namely: Gandhi Mahan Street, Nanjampatty, Pachapatty, Kurinji Nagar Housing Board, Chinnamapalayam, Kalikoundar Housing Board, Pudhiya Sunaambu Soolai, Indira Nagar, and Carpet Street. The campaign aimed to:
- Identify out-of-school children
- Promote the importance of education
- Raise awareness on the elimination of child labour
🏠 Outreach Impact:
Our team visited over 250 households during the campaign, collecting essential data and spreading awareness through a Signature Sticker Drive carrying the message:
“Every Child in School – Say No to Child Labour!” Out of which, we were able to identify 28 dropout children across the areas, and several potential dropouts who are at the risk of leaving school. This event served as a platform for drawing community attention to the cause and emphasize the need to protect every child’s right to education.
This joint effort highlights the importance of inter-departmental collaboration in building a Child-Friendly Salem, where every child is safe, learning, and thriving.
