On February 16, 2025, we hosted an inspiring and engaging session titled “Building Blocks for Life: Self-Awareness,” where 31 bright young minds gathered to dive deep into the core of personal development. The event, which ran from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, was filled with interactive activities, discussions, and fun-filled moments that kept the children actively engaged.

The session began with the motivational song “Pudhiya Vazhi,” setting a positive and uplifting tone for the day. To keep the energy high and lively, the children participated in an action song that got everyone moving and laughing. The theme of the day, “Building Blocks for Life,” was introduced, focusing on how self-awareness plays a crucial role in shaping who we are and how we interact with the world.

We explored the concept of self-awareness—understanding our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours—and how they’re interconnected. Through relatable examples, the children learned how thoughts influence feelings and how those feelings can lead to actions. To make the learning experience more meaningful, the kids were encouraged to reflect on their own thoughts and emotions, guided by thought-provoking questions that sparked deep self-reflection.

Throughout the session, we made sure to keep the atmosphere fun and engaging by showing short comedy videos, which provided a perfect balance between learning and entertainment. These videos helped maintain focus while adding a light-hearted touch to the learning process.

Afterwards, the children were divided into small groups to discuss various ways to enhance self-awareness. Together, they explored five powerful strategies: spending time in nature, practicing mindfulness, journaling daily, taking moments to reflect, and boosting emotional intelligence. Each strategy was explained in simple terms, empowering the students with practical tools they can use to improve their self-awareness.

To wrap up the session, we introduced 10 essential life skills every child should learn to navigate life confidently. These skills included: Self-awareness, Critical thinking, Problem-solving

Decision-making, Effective communication, Interpersonal relationships, Empathy, Time management, Creative thinking &

Coping with stress.

The children gained valuable knowledge about these life skills, learning their meanings and real-world applications. Understanding these skills helps them develop stronger emotional intelligence and prepares them for a future where they can confidently handle challenges.

To ensure we’re always improving, we collected feedback from the children. Suggestions included providing chairs for comfort, discussing topics related to animals and plants to enhance their knowledge of nature, incorporating short breaks to help them recharge, and adding even more comedy videos to make learning even more fun.

The impact of this session was profound. Not only did the children gain a better understanding of themselves, but they also learned practical strategies to manage their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. This session empowered them with tools to make better decisions, build stronger relationships, and develop a positive mindset that will contribute to their personal and academic success. We’re excited to continue this journey of self-discovery and growth with them!
