Stitching a Bright Future
Salem Don Bosco Anbu Illam, with the support of the Desai Foundation Trust and SPS Foundation, successfully completed a free 3-month sewing skills training program, offering both basic and advanced power machine courses in the villages of No. 3 Komarapalaiyam, Alavaipatti, and Ettimanikampatti from July to September 2024.
This initiative aimed to empower rural women with practical skills to help them secure sustainable livelihoods and achieve financial independence.
More than 90 women participated, gaining expertise in machine operation, fabric cutting, and sewing. As a result, many have started taking on tailoring work from local businesses and individuals, significantly contributing to their family income. Some participants have even expressed interest in starting small tailoring businesses, marking a positive step toward entrepreneurship. This training has not only improved their financial stability but also boosted their self-confidence, allowing them to take on stronger roles within their households and communities.
