Illuminating Lives: Candle & Diya Making Training for Women!
From September 12th to 14th, 2024, Salem Don Bosco Anbu Illam hosted an inspiring 3-day training program in Candle & Diya Making for 60 remarkable women from O Sowthapuram and Moonumulaakdu village in Vennandur, Namakkal.
Our Mission: Empower Women, Celebrate Traditional Crafts, and Safeguard Cultural Heritage.
This initiative is designed to create a lasting positive impact by promoting self-sufficiency and economic empowerment among participants. By equipping women, girls, and individuals in rural areas with essential craft and entrepreneurial skills, we boost economic growth and play a vital role in sustaining traditional crafts and enhancing appreciation for these art forms. The skills learned during the program help ensure these cultural practices thrive in today’s market.
This training allowed women to learn how to create candles and earn an income from the comfort of their homes, aiding them in self-reliance. Program highlights included:

In total, 60 women benefited directly from this program, allowing them to manage household duties while pursuing income-generating activities. Many participants expressed gratitude and were interested in additional support to continue their endeavours.
