our latest initiative of strengthening families and promoting family-based alternative care for children in Tamil Nadu
our latest initiative of strengthening families and promoting family-based alternative care for children in Tamil Nadu. In partnership with Miracle Foundation India and the Department of Children Welfare and Special Services, we organised a networking consultation meeting for Child Care Institutions (CCIs)!
Date: 15/07/2024 Time: 10 am to 12 pm Venue: Don Bosco Anbu Illam (DBAI), 230 Brett’s Road, Mulluvadigate, Salem-7
During the meeting, we discussed innovative strategies to network CCIs for Family Strengthening (FS) and Family-Based Alternative Care (FBAC). Our mission is to support families and safeguard children through non-institutional approaches.
Rev. Dr. Casimir Raj highlighted the incredible work done by DBAI over the past 35 years, uplifting children, especially dropouts, and those in need of care and protection. We delved into the various projects focusing on child protection, community empowerment and creating a Child-Friendly Salem.
Discussions revolved around rehabilitation and prevention strategies implemented by DBAI, documentation processes, and guidance sessions for children. Rev. Dr. Casimir emphasized the importance of a follow-up post-dedication phase to ensure the successful reintegration of children into society.
We also celebrated the powerful impact of Child Parliaments and Constitutional Rights Education in local slums. These initiatives have significantly raised awareness and ignited interest in children’s rights.
