Origin & Growth
In the mid-1980s, there was a growing awareness of the increasing number of street children in various parts of Salem. Initially, through the efforts of Salesians from Retreat, Yercaud, and later with the help of Fr. Francis Schlooz and Bro. Meril, a remarkable rehabilitation program for the ‘Young at Risk’ was developed into a Shelter Home for vulnerable children and youths.
Currently, we provide institutional care for orphans, children from single-parent households, broken families, and other vulnerable children. Our Community Development Initiatives reach out to and empower marginalised communities in 15 slums and 70 villages in Salem and Namakkal Districts. We also offer support to students who have dropped out of school and women in difficult situations.
We work closely with government bodies and other funding partners to ensure that our efforts have a lasting impact on the lives of marginalised young people and their communities. By working together, we strive to create a brighter future for those in need and help them overcome the challenges they face.
